Sustainabilty in the fashion and arts industries is something that needs to be spoken of more. At Laiika the Label we try our best to look out for the planet. Using slow-design & minimal-waste principles.

Slow-design is the process of taking time to create your products, for Laiika the Label this involves sourcing the right materials and considering where they have come from. Each product is unique using threads, yarns & materials that have been gifted or recycled. It may take longer for your products to be made & arrive but knowing the effort & love that has gone into them should have you feeling the warm and fuzzies.

Minimal-waste principles ask you to be aware of how much you are throwing away. Laiika is very resourceful using up every bit of the fabric, yarn or thread, only throwing away what is unusable. Reusing everyday objects & things that a found in nature to create items that will be cherished forever! Instead of becoming a slave to fast fashion, consider the longevity of your purchases, & only buy things that you really love. If your favourite item starts to fall apart remember to make do and mend!

Laiika the label uses a combination of digital and handmade processes. With a textile background Laiika has a love for all things tactile and enjoys creating trinkets. Digital design enriches the process, creating a multi-dimensional art and design practice.
