Pronounced lay-kah (noun) Meaning of Folk

Laiika is a beautiful village located in the heart of Kalamata, Greece – the village where Phillipa’s grandma was born. As a young lady with a big imagination & an eagerness to create, Phillipa danced her way through thick fog to come back to her roots grounded in folk and from there created the label Laiika.

laiika the brand

Laiika the Label is a conscious brand that is devoted to creating unique textile products inspired by the magic of nature.

Laiika the Label follows slow-design and minimal waste principles to create quirky, fun & colourful textile pieces and illustrations.

laiika the maker

Phillipa is the creative brains behind Laiika the Label. Her passion for the arts & crafts started as a young girl sitting for hours drawing, painting or making with her hands.

Her journey as a young entrepreneur began at age 7. Setting up a table out the front of her house selling cards to people who walked past. After school she attended Brighton Bay Art, Design & Photography where she rekindled her love for all things tactile & handmade. She went on to study Textile Design at RMIT where she majored in knitting.

During her university studies she began making and selling crystal jewellery with the brand name Pipzie Dust. Five years on her brand has grown to what it is today – Laiika the Label an exploration of illustration through embroidery.
